Faeroe Islands-
18 rugged islands in the North Atlantic Ocean between Iceland and Scotland. There is a population of about 50,000 people and they speak Faeroese and Danish. Both languages have Bibles. They are a region of Denmark and not part of the EU. They would like to be more independent. Pray for wise government leaders. There is also need for revival in the church. The Lutheran Church is the national church. Pray for these people to experience real faith.
Falkland Islands-
These islands are in the South Atlantic Ocean off the tip of South America. The population (around 3,000) is 95% British. (I was surprised, too!) Fishing is the main economy, with the possibility of oil in the future. They are a self-governing British overseas territory. A constitution written in 2009 makes the islands basically self-sufficient and self-governing. There is freedom of religion. Pray for Christian believers to witness to other islanders.
1 Chronicles 24-26:11
David is not allowed to build the temple of the Lord, but he is making preparations for Solomon. He has gathered some of the building materials, and he is dividing up the duties and jobs of the temple among the people who were appointed the first time around. He organized the Levites, the priests, the musicians, and the gatekeepers today... more lists of names and sons of fathers and brothers and so on.
Romans 4:1-12
Romans is a little hard. Especially to just read over a little a day and not really spend time dwelling in what is actually trying to be communicated. So basically, there has been a lot of talk about the law. Do you have to be circumcised? Is the law important? Who is righteous? In the scripture today, Abraham is mentioned as an example. Paul says that when people work they are paid not as a gift, but as a due. Our righteousness is apart from works. It's not something we earn. Abraham's belief in God was what counted as his righteousness. He was counted as righteous before being circumcised... it was just a sign of his faith. This way he is "the father of all who believe without being circumcised, so that righteousness would be counted to them as well." In summary, it's not about the rules, but about your faith!
Psalm 13
David is questioning how long the Lord will wait before answering his cries. But he ends with praise and trust in God's steadfast love.
Proverbs 19:15-16
Slothfulness is no good.
