Indonesia-
Kalimantan- This island is mostly Muslim, but Christian growth is seen.  However, there is not a clear break from the spirit world.  There are very large unreached people groups, some with a history that is hard to get over.
Sulawesi- Very diverse island, which leads to many languages not having a Bible translation.  There is much work being done to get more translations.  This island also has a long history of Christianity and although they are a minority, they are a large minority is some areas.

Song of Solomon 5-8
I am loving this book.  Well,  I guess technically I loved it since I finished it.  In today's reading, the lovers are telling one another what they love about each other.  And while we may not feel like a man telling us that our teeth are like a flock of ewes is much of a compliment, her beloved knew all parts of her and found them desirable... and he told her!  What's important is that she listened and believed him.  She says, "I am my beloved's, and his desire is for me."  This part is easy for me to make the connection to Christ and the church.  So many times when we hear good things about ourselves we are slow to believe them.  This includes how much the Lord loves us.  He tells us over and over again in His word, but do we listen and believe him?  The beloved tells his lover over and over again how beautiful she is.  Do you believe that the King is enthralled with your beauty?  It's true!!  She also gives a pretty good description of him with his cheeks like beds of spices and legs like alabaster columns.  I'm wondering what kind of modern comparisons we would use now...

Psalm 51
Selected verses:
"Have mercy on me, O God, according to your steadfast love...wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow... create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me... restore to me the joy of your salvation, and uphold me with a willing spirit. Then I will teach transgressors your ways, and sinner will return to you... O Lord, open my lips, and my mouth will declare your praise."

Proverbs 22:24-25
Do not associate with angry or wrathful men.

2 Corinthians 9
The first part of this chapter is a little funny to me because Paul is telling the people how much he has bragged about them and had confidence in speaking about them.  Now there are some people coming to see them and he is just making sure they know how highly he has spoken of them so that they don't disappoint anyone.  Hehe!  The second part of this chapter talks about giving.  We reap what we sow.  We must decide in our hearts what we should give, but we should only give with the right motives- not reluctantly or under compulsion.  Give cheerfully, for God provides all that is needed, and He is generous.  And when we give, it will produce thanksgiving to God... in us and in others as they see and hear our confession of the gospel.
