Palestine
The country is basically a little bit of land inside Israel. Both nations lay claim to Jerusalem as their capital. The majority are Muslim with very little outreach effort from Christians. Pray for Christians to demonstrate love and concern.
Psalm 119:65-80
The first little section today begins by saying that people are opposing the writer, but he is able to find his hope and delight in the Lord. The second section talks about being made by the Lord and desiring to follow His ways.
Proverbs 28:14
"Blessed is the one who fears the Lord always, but whoever hardens his heart will fall into calamity."
1 Peter 3:8-4:6
Again, Peter has so much to say. I find myself rereading to make sure I got everything... and I still don't feel like I did! He begins by saying that we should not repay evil with evil, "for to this you were called." He then talks about suffering on behalf of Christ. He says we should always be ready to "make a defense" to people who ask why we have such hope. And he reminds us that the suffering we will endure is nothing compared to the suffering Christ endured for us. Then Peter says that it is because of our sufferings that we are able to live in the Spirit. Because Jesus suffered in the flesh, we are able to follow His example and live not according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit.
Daniel 1-2:23
Well, first off, this takes place during the time of King Nebuchadnezzer of Babylon, and he has taken the nation of Judah captive. After doing so, he commanded that the young, healthy, good-looking men be brought to the palace to be trained for him. They were to be given the food the king ate and were to be in training for three years. Daniel and his three friends refused the king's food and asked for veggies and water. The chief eunuch was nervous, but gave them 10 days of their preferred diet. At the end of those days, the four boys were much better off and more healthy, so everyone was given the "Daniel diet." A little while later, the king had a dream and demanded that is be interpreted. His men were unable to do it so he was in the process of having them all destroyed when Daniel found out what was going on. He agreed to interpret the dream and then immediately went home to his three friends and asked for them to pray. The Lord answered and revealed the dream to Daniel.
