Leviticus 4-5
These are instructions for sin offerings. If anyone sinned unintentionally there were certain rules to follow and offerings to be made. As I read through this, I was struck by how simple things are for us now. When Jesus became our offering so that we no longer had to give these sacrifices, He made a way for us to be connected to God even when we struggle with our sins. All we must do is ask for forgiveness. I know I take that for granted and don't even realized my sin sometimes. Lord, open my eyes to see the things I need to bring before You remove from my life.
Mark 2:13-3:6
Jesus is teaching and healing. The scribes want to know why He would eat with sinners and tax collectors and Jesus explains that those are the people He has come to save. How many who don't know Jesus sit at my table regularly? I hope there are many who might be able to see Christ in me and be healed by Him.
Psalm 36
Steadfast love- how I need to be reminded of this and choose to believe it!
Proverbs 10:1-2
This chapter begins the proverbs of Solomon. They are like one-liners of wisdom. Today's are about a wise son and righteousness.
Pray-
Yemen. I have been very humbled today in my time of reading about and praying for this country. It is such a dark place to live and they face very hard situations and here I am concerned only about myself and what I want to do with my holiday break time that will serve me best. Thank you, Lord, for some perspective this morning. So in Yemen, there is lots of fighting. There are at least 3 guns for every person in the country. Also, their agriculture is dominated by the growing of qat, which is a mild narcotic. Crazy statistics- 40% of national economy, 55% of the country's water usage, 20 million working hours a day, negative effects on productivity, social, and family life. Another issue is openly believing in Jesus. The worst persecution comes from their own families. Pray for softened hearts and restored families.
