It is Saturday, and one of the things I like most about the weekend is having a day without a schedule or agenda. However, this meant that I did not follow my routine today and almost let the day slip away without spending any time in prayer or in the Word. I'm so thankful for the mercy and grace that are extended to me by my Savior.
Today (tonight) I prayed for St. Barthelemy, St. Helena, St. Kitts and Nevis, and St. Lucia. These are all tiny islands both in the Caribbean and off the coast of Africa. Learning about them reminded me that the Lord sees everything, even these small places in the world that offer an escape for the wealthy or are in danger of being abandoned because of a lack of jobs. There is no place that He does not see.
Genesis 3-4
I love the story of creation and am in awe of the way God spoke everything out of nothing. I have so many questions to ask when I finally get to see Him face to face! In chapter four is the story of Cain and Abel. God said to Cain, "sin is crouching at your door. Its desire is for you, but you must rule over it." Good reminder.
Matthew 2:13-3:6
How faithful Joseph and Mary were. I wonder if they knew of the prophesies written about the Messiah.
Psalm 2
From yesterday- I love this: "He is like a tree planted by streams of water that yields its fruit in its season." The verse is speaking about someone who delights in the law of the Lord instead of the folly of man.
Today- "Ask of me, and I will make the nations your heritage..." This has such great meaning behind it as I pray for the world!
Proverbs 1:7-9
How to become wise. I want so badly to be wise, and "the fear of the Lord is the beginning..."
And now for bed.
