Sudan:
This is the largest country in Africa and ranges from dessert to tropical bush, with mountains in between. The Nile runs through it. The North and South have long been at war, but are currently under a peace agreement. The government of Sudan has fought against, killed and displaced its own people, largely in Darfur. They have taken it to the point of genocide.
There are some answers to prayer, though! Because of all the war, Christians have dispersed throughout the country and planted churches throughout the nation. Christianity, in fact, has seen large growth and the crisis in Darfur has allowed for Christian relief workers to come in and share the gospel.
Genesis 8-10
After the flood, God promised to not flood the earth again and gave the rainbow as a sign of this promise. He also told Noah to repopulate the earth, and he did with a bunch of guys with crazy names. :)
Matthew 4:12-25
Jesus begins His ministry. He started preaching and healing people, but He also called the first disciples. What faith Simon Peter and Andrew must have had to just immediately leave their livelihood and follow after this man. And then James and John walked away from not only their profession, but their father as well. I pray that I will be found faithful, leaving all things behind...
Psalm 4
This one was to be sung with stringed instruments. (I love knowing that!) "You have put more joy in my heart than they have when their grain and wine abound."
Proverbs 1:20-23
Wisdom cries out to us that we may know it's words.
