Pray- Asia
The Church in East Asia varies greatly from country to country. Some, like North Korea, have intense persecution of Christians. Others, like South Korea, are still a minority, but are strong and growing and sending out missionaries. And then some have seen Christianity become more acceptable, but still are very small in number. The Church is also battling the societal evil of materialism, basing their worth on their success in the world.
Deuteronomy 11-12
I am loving Deuteronomy. So far it has been lots of recapping the journey of the Israelites, but there has also been lots of God expressing His love for His people. Here are some things that have caught my attention: "the Lord set his heart in lover on your fathers and chose their offspring after them... the Lord your God is God of gods and Lord of lords, the great, the mighty, and the awesome God, who is not partial and takes no bribe... He is your praise. He is your God, who had done great and terrifying things that your eyes have seen... You shall therefore lay up these words of mine in your heart and in your soul, and you shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes. You shall teach them to your children, talking of them when you are sitting in your house, and when you are walking by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise. You shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates..."
Luke 8:22-39
Jesus just told the parable of the seeds that are scattered and fall on different types of soil. He then explains to the disciples that not everyone is supposed to understand His stories (which I don't completely understand). Then they set out in a boat, Jesus falls asleep, there is a storm, the disciples think they will die, Jesus rebukes the wind and waves, and then asks His disciples where their faith is. He also heals a demon possessed man. The people of the town were afraid and asked Him to leave.
Psalm 70
David is asking for quick deliverance.
Proverbs 12:4
"An excellent wife is the crown of her husband, but she who brings shame is like rottenness in his bones." This one hits pretty close to home. How I hope to be a crown and not rottenness!!!!
